The Angel of Water® Advantage

There are two types of colon hydrotherapy equipment: open systems and traditional closed systems. When in the control of qualified professionals, both are safe and effective means of irrigating the colon.  The significant difference lies in the experience of the patient and the practitioner - and the operating budget of the facility where it is installed.

The Angel of Water® is an open system: A practitioner monitors the session.  A pencil-thin nozzle is inserted 1½” into the rectum.  The contents of the bowel and bladder are expelled at will by the patient. The waste flows around – not through – the nozzle into an concealed basin where it is immediately flushed into the plumbing lines.

A traditional closed system: A practitioner conducts the session, inserting a speculum (½“- ¾“ diameter) 2-3 inches into the rectum.  Water is introduced until the patient indicates they feel an urge. The water flow is stopped (often manually, by kinking the hose) and the waste is evacuated through the speculum down the hose and into the plumbing line.  Should a patient need to urinate, the session must be interrupted.

With the Angel of Water®, patients appreciate the privacy and in a relaxed state can experience dramatic elimination results in one session.  Practitioners and staff appreciate that the Angel of Water® is quiet, sanitary, and odourless; easy to operate, clean and maintain. It requires only a small room and one person can oversee two systems/rooms simultaneously.

A Chemical-free Solution – How It Works

After the patient is comfortably positioned, the rectal nozzle is inserted about 1½ inches. A gentle flow of gravity-fed, 100 degree water begins. Water flowing into the colon initiates peristalsis and the patient responds by releasing water and waste repeatedly over the course of the next 30-45 minutes.

This progressive irrigation and hydration starts at the rectum, goes through the transverse section and then to the cecum, breaking up waste matter and achieving the complete evacuation of the colon. This results in a hygienic internal environment and significantly improved visibility of the colon interior during endoscopic examinations.
